Competition Rules of the Five Lakes Film Festival

1 ) The objective of the Five Lakes Film Festival (FSFF) is, to give the film in all its forms, as an art and as entertainment, public and support; as well as promotion in the sense of cinema as diversity, innovation, commitment, and in particular the quality.

2) Admitted to the section "Five Lakes Film Award" are international movies with participation of Germany, Austria, Switzerland or one of the current guest countries of the FSFF and with at least 70 minutes of length, the production year not older than 2 years from the current festival and films which have not yet been officially released and evaluated in theatre or on Television.

3) Admitted to the section "Five Lakes Documentary Award" are documentaries from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and borderline countries of the Alps region with at least 70 minutes of length, the production year not older than 2 years from the current festival and films which have not yet been officially released and evaluated in theatre or on Television.

4) Admitted to the section "Human Right Award" are international films and documentaries focusing on films from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and borderline countries of the Alps region with at least 70 minutes of length, which are especially prone to peace, freedom, justice and harmonious coexistence between humans, animals and nature and which constitute these goals in a cinematic impressive form.

5) Admitted to the section "Newcomer's Film Award" are feature films from Germany, Austria, Switzerland and borderline countries of the Alps region at least with at least 70 minutes of length, the production year not older than 2 years from the current festival and films which have not yet been officially released and evaluated in theatre or on Television. Moreover, it must be either the first or second work of filmmaker. Moreover this film is intended to promote the creativity, innovation and commitment in dealing with his medium.

6) Three volunteer juries consisting of five personalities from the fields of film, cinema, culture, journalism and public life, all of which are neither participating in the competition productions, no involved, nor an interest in their distribution will award the FIVE LAKES FILM PRIZE, the FIVE LAKES DOCUMENTARY PRIZE, the HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD and the PERSPECTIVE FILM AWARD. The respective director of the winning films will receive the prize money.

7) In the competition FIVE LAKES FILM AWARD will be awarded two prizes: FSFF - Best film and FSFF - Best screenplay FSFF.

8) The section "Five Lakes Short Film Award" is divided into two areas:
To the section "Golden glowworm“ are admitted featured films and documentaries with a length up to 20 minutes films Germany, Austria, Switzerland and borderline countries of the Alps region.

To the section "Short Plus“ are admitted featured films and documentaries from Germany , Austria , Switzerland and borderline countries of the Alps region with a length of 20 to 60 minutes. The winners of both areas are voted by the public.

9) The deadline for submission is March 31 of the festival year. In special cases the deadlines may be extended at the discretion of the festival management.

10) The selection of entries are set by the festival management under line of ruling competition regulations and the self-understanding of the FSFF.

11) The meetings of the juries are conducted by the “Jury Chairman” as determined by the festival director.

The awardees of each section are determined in the final jury sessions after careful deliberation and exchange by vote of the jury members and which obtained an absolute majority of votes. Should this initially not be the case, the method of the runoff ballot shall apply.
The Jury Chairmen informs the festival management about the awardees of the various sections and the awards are handed over personally at the official awards ceremony.

12) Awarded films of FSFF may and should carry in their marketing and advertising materials, the signet of FSFF with appropriate addition.
