This year, the fsff places one of its focal points on the countries of the Western Balkans. Three (co-)productions from Albania/North Macedonia/Kosovo (VERA DREAMS OF THE SEA, SONS OF CAIN and HIVE) will enrich the festival's film program. Only a few hours' drive from Munich, marked by war traumas from the 1990s, stretches an area that could not be more ethnically and linguistically diverse. Patriarchal structures still exist in the society, making it much more difficult for women to achieve equality. In a discussion with the three directors Kaltrina Krasniqi, Keti Stamo and Blerta Basholli, this topic, which their films illuminate, will be addressed.
